Hey lady,
I got a fun episode for you today! First of all because we’ll talk about how to
Get your confidence back!
It just so happens that our confidence often takes a hit when we move abroad.
As we find ourselves far outside our comfort zone, stripped of our previous ‘identity’ (or of what you thought made you ‘you’), trying to navigate a different country, culture and language and to make friends… it’s easy to start feeling more insecure, uncertain, questioning and second-guessing yourself and your actions.
And yet, confidence is key in the way we view ourselves and others and in our ability to thrive and prosper. And in this episode I’ll show you
- what confidence is made up of
- why a move abroad can make it shrink
- why you need it
- and 4 practical things you can do to get your confidence back!
But furthermore, this episode includes:
- a personal invitation to be interviewed for an exciting new project I’ve been researching.I’d love to hear your take, your experience and your perspective on finding meaning, purpose and self-actualization as an expat partner – no matter what your situation looks like, where you’re at in your life and totally confidentially.
I’d love it if you could participate! Here’s the link to my calendar to schedule your interview.
- In the spirit of confidence, I figured: let me walk my talk, so I’ve featured one of my Spanish Salsa songs I recorded in my early 20s together with my incredibly talented uncle.
I had great fun recording this album, BUT was lacking the confidence at the time to really put my music out there. But you get a sneak peak into it! (Careful, the rhythm might get ya :-D)
Further Resources
In the episode I mention:
- The Confidence Code by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman.
In The Confidence Code, journalists Katty Kay and Claire Shipman travel to the frontiers of neuroscience on a hunt for the confidence gene and reveal surprising new research on its roots in our brains. They visit the world’s leading psychologists who explain how we can all choose to become more confident simply by taking action and courting risk, and how those actions change our physical wiring. They interview women leaders from the worlds of politics, sports, the military, and the arts to learn how they have tapped into this elemental resource. They examine how a lack of confidence impacts our leadership, success, and fulfillment.
- Episode 5 “Are You Suffering From Boreout?” (The Empowered Expat Wife Podcast)
